I UNDERSTAND Stagecoach’s need to make a profit; I am puzzled by the way they plan to do it.

If the last 59 bus leaves the Market Place at 2.30pm, the 58/59 circular bus route from Stratton to Chesterton will meet the needs of scarcely any local residents.

We need at least one early morning and at least one late afternoon bus.

The King’s Head Hotel in the Market Place is due to reopen soon; they are recruiting now.

Some of those hoping to begin a career at The King’s Head may have planned to use public transport. This now looks impossible except for part-time workers.

We need the 58/59 bus links to the 51 service from Swindon enabling travel to Cheltenham General Hospital, and to Cheltenham bus station.

We need the 58/59 bus links to the 51 service from Cheltenham, enabling travel to the Great Western Hospital and Swindon bus station.

For some people who have used the 58/59 service, what Stagecoach propose is frightening.

I hope Stagecoach will reconsider how it can reduce its running costs and yet offer a necessary service.
