YOU reported on June 5 that residents of Chesterton feel short-changed by the cursory “consultation” held by Cotswold District Council into the proposed Chesterton housing development.
This development will transform Cirencester by its sheer size, as well as causing added pressure on already-stretched local resources, such as schools and the ambulance and health services.
I am in full agreement with Mr Thompson that a referendum should be held to determine whether or not this development is permitted.
The holding of local referenda on matters such as this is a central plank of UKIP’s policy — the only political party that is brave enough to give the electorate real control over its politicians.
Dare CDC hold a referendum on this development, or will they hide from the wishes of the people they purport to represent?
