I WOULD like to place on record the collective disgust of Royal British Legion members at the apathetic behaviour of the English voters.

The voting turnout was abysmal and there is no excuse. During the time when many of we older folk look back and remember friends and family lost in the First World War, the advent of the D-Day anniversary approaches; it will go unnoticed by the English except for the silent tribute regularly made at Royal British Legion meetings.

A voting turn out of only 37 per cent is pathetic and is a dreadful condemnation of the countrymen who have such a low regard for democracy and the death of millions who fought to keep this freedom which is the legacy those soldiers, sailors and airmen left for the English to enjoy.
