TEENAGE Cancer Trust is appealing to readers to start dusting off their walking shoes and take part in a unique fundraising trek along the Jurassic coastal path.

Taking place on Saturday, May 24, the 22 mile Jurassic Coast Challenge will go along one of the most beautiful stretches of British coastline, featuring breathtaking views from Lulworth Cove to Durlston Head, near Dorset.

Walkers will be treated to lunch, drinks and snacks as well as access to a full support team. And for every person who registers, there’s also a chance to win a pair of Salomon trail shoes worth £85, thanks to Tony Pryce Sports.

All money raised from the trek will go towards the construction of the first specialist state-of-the-art cancer unit for young people living in the South West.

Every day in the UK, around seven young people are told they have cancer and more than 200 are diagnosed across the South West every year.

Due to open in 2014, the unit, based at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre, will allow young people aged 16 to 24 from Bristol, Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, to be treated for the first time with others their own age in an environment suited to their needs.

To join the Jurassic Coast Challenge, there is a £55 registration fee, which includes your lunch and all drinks and snacks for the day, as well as transport to the start line from where you have left your car at the finish.

We’re asking all participants to aim to raise £200. To enter, please email katie.crossey@teenagecancertrust.org or call 07507 600286.

We look forward to seeing you there.
