THE Standard (January 30) carried an article in which Mr Moreton Cullimore, of the Cullimore Group, claimed that, in past years, Ashton Keynes Parish Council had ignored his offers to meet to discuss perceived problems relating to his company’s gravel activities within the parish.

However, the heading over the article: ‘Gravel firm boss hits out over council’s invite snub’ implied that this is still the case, which is certainly not true. I have only recently taken over as chairman of the parish council, and have already asked to meet with Mr Cullimore.

Whilst I was disappointed to read that Mr Cullimore thinks that “it would be a waste of time to have the meeting now” I shall, nevertheless, try to achieve this.

It is only through dialogue that we can hope to resolve our difficulties.
