FRIDAY I walked the 435 from the Golf Club to Baunton Lane,

Picking up the litter before it began to rain (again!),

Red Bull, Coke and lager cans; crisp packets by the score,

Sweet wrappers and those paper cups complete with lid and straw.

A "throw-away" cigarette lighter - a joke - 'cos someone did,

Threw it from a moving car - 'twas empty so unwanted!

A trainer and a wheel hub cap which had seen better days,

And lots of fast-food-takeaway, lidded plastic trays.

I left the verge quite litter-free and then it began to rain,

But on Saturday when I drove past there was litter there again.

WHY?

It isn't rocket science, illegal or a sin

To take unwanted rubbish home and put it in a bin.
