UK MANUFACTURER Dyson have announced plans to double their research and development centre in Malmesbury. Labour's parliamentary candidate for North Wiltshire, Peter Baldrey, commented: "Unemployment across the country is moving in the right direction which is positive, however the trend is not yet replicated in the South West, where we saw a rise. More needs to be done.

"I welcome the excellent news that Dyson are looking to expand their business in Malmesbury. Plans to double their research and development centre and take on 3,000 extra employees by 2020 will bring a much needed boost to North Wiltshire and the wider region. The confidence that Dyson have to invest in our area is something I want to see more of, from a broad range of business.

"I want to make sure North Wiltshire is an attractive place to come and open up shop. The number one concern business owners have up and down the country is the rise in business rates – and North Wiltshire is no different. Small business is the lifeblood of communities and we will be ensuring that our policy offer for 2015 reflects that belief and our commitment to them.”
