WITH the imminent arrival of the Christmas Shopping season, and the much needed boost to Cirencester shopkeepers’ income (in the face of internet shopping), may I through your column address the management of the St James Place organisation to ask that they consider opening their car park in the Tetbury Road on Saturdays for the benefit of Christmas shoppers?

The St James Place car park is unused every Saturday, and it would serve the population well if it could be used in this way. If there is a potential insurance problem that inhibits the use of the car park by non-employees of St James Place on Saturdays, perhaps an appropriate notice to the effect that “Cars are parked at their owner's risk” would suffice.

Another suggestion perhaps would be for St James Place to “offer” the car park for charities to run every Saturday, who could charge a modest amount to drivers to benefit the charities.
