I HAVE been talking to people in Cirencester and the local villages about the proposal to pedestrianise the Market Place.

Without exception, everyone is against it. Nobody will come into the town if they can’t park quickly and cheaply. Another supermarket has been given permission on the outskirts so the town centre will die if the proposal to close access to the thriving Market Place we have at present. What a waste of a lovely market town. Why don’t we upgrade Cricklade Street, which is looking grim, and reduce the parking charges as Mary Portal wants so that people can drive in, park and enjoy our town.

Can you imagine the chaos while it is being closed for the work – people will go elsewhere and never come back.

The Charter Markets have been decimated by the Christmas Market and please support the farmers' market or that will go as well.

Please, please change the minds of the people who are determined to close Cirencester.
