CASES of epizootic catarrhal enteritis have been reported in a number of ferrets in Wiltshire after an outbreak of a highly contagious virus.
The disease causes green, slimy diarrhoea and is highly contagious between ferrets.
Positive cases have been recorded in the county with 28 confirmed Chippenham, 13 in Salisbury and two in Devizes with six cases still awaiting results in Trowbridge.
The School of Veterinary Sciences at the University of Glasgow has been tracking the outbreak and is advising that anyone who suspects their pet might be infected should isolate them from other ferrets as soon as possible.
