MORE snow has fallen in Little Rissington than anywhere else in the county.

The Met Office News Blog reported today the Cotswolds village was currently under 30cm of snow, three centimetres more than Aboyne in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Nearby, only eight cm fell in Brize Norton, Oxfordshire and five in Larkhill, Wiltshire.

Cotswold District Council ward member for nearby Bourton-on-the-Water Sheila Jeffrey (Con) said residents in the north Cotswolds had been hit hard by the snowfall.

“I thought I would be able to get my car out today but I can’t,” she said.

“I had a friend from Upper Rissington ring me today to say they’d spent a long time trying to dig their car out but they’d have to give up.”

She added she was pleased by the worked Gloucestershire County Council workers had put in gritting and clearing the roads around the region.

“They’re working very hard to keep things going,” she said.

“Let’s not forget there are some people out there working and I’m very appreciative of what they are doing. “
