DISRUPTION caused by snowfall is set to cause further problems throughout the weekend.

Although only light snowfall is expected across the South West from this evening the Met Office are predicting extremely icy conditions across the region tomorrow morning, with potential disruption to transport services.

Light snowfall is expected throughout the weekend and into the start of next week. Gritters will be out throughout the weekend making sure roads are useable, with some in Gloucestershire fitted with ploughs help clear snow.

The following roads have been identified as hazardous and drivers are advised to avoid them:

  • The A435 from Cirencester to Cheltenham.
  • The A429 at Fossebridge.
  • The A436 from Birdlip to Severn Springs.
  • The A417 at Crickley Hill.
  • The A419 at Cowcombe Hill.
  • The A419 at Little Witcombe.
  • The A435 from Charlton Kings to Severn Springs.
  • The A49 at Alvington.
  • Parliament Street in Stroud.
  • The A4151 at Littledean.
  • The A4173 at Brookthope, Edge and Stroud.
  • The A46 at Stroud, Painswick and Brockworth.
  • The B4362 at Cleeve Hill.
  • An unclassified road at Toadsmoor Hill, Brimscombe.
  • An unclassified road from Nailsworth to Minchinhampton.

No roads in Wiltshire are currently officially closed, but drivers are warned to be extremely careful and only travel if journeys are essential.
