CIRENCESTER College geared itself up for a double bill of inspirational ex-students. As part of the Ciren 21 celebrations, marking the 21st anniversary of the sixth form college, two former students spoke to the new intake to pass on their experiences.

James Goodfield joined Cirencester College exactly 20 years ago in1992 to study his A-levels. Since then he has had a meteoric rise through the world of motor racing engineering to his current position of chief engineer to the FIA Formula Two championship and director of Goodfield Consulting Ltd.

Charan Thandi was at the college more recently until 2010 and is now in his second year studying for a medical degree at Durham University.

Principal, Kim Clifford said: “It was great to welcome back James and Charan, they are not only fantastic examples of two young professionals that our new students can aspire to, but they also gave the students some really good advice about making the most of their time and opportunities whilst they study at the college.”

* The 21st anniversary celebrations culminate in the Academy Ball at the Corn Hall, Cirencester on Saturday, October 6. To buy tickets please contact Sarah Lane on 01285 640994 or email Sarah on sarah.lane@cirencester.ac.uk.
