Sir William Romney's students get set with their own Olympics
SPORTY students at Sir William Romney’s School in Tetbury used the last week of term to celebrate London 2012 with their own Olympics.
Students prepared for their opening ceremony by dressing up, painting their faces and making banners.
Creative pupils also had to design sports kit, an Olympic mascot and logo and an alternative flag for their country. Students represented six countries: Australia, Ethiopia, Greece, India, Jamaica and the USA.
During a parade around the school playing field, four students took part in a torch relay with an actual Olympic torch. Roger Crang from Deer Park Archers took part as one of the torch bearers in May and brought the torch in to make the day even more special.
Roger is a familiar face at the school as he has been giving archery lessons to students for the past couple of years.
During the three-day school event, students experienced fencing, wheelchair basketball, seated volleyball and handball before the Brazilian-inspired closing ceremony.
