PUPILS at Avening School have been thrilled with the arrival of a new garden sculpture, christened ‘Bob”, created for them by the pupils from Cotswold Chine School.
Over several months, pupils from the two schools have visited each other’s schools and shared ideas particularly about the gardens.
The Chine students felt they could help the younger pupils by contributing to the new outdoor learning garden that Avening School has been developing.
After discussing various ideas, pupils from Cotswold Chine created a creature based on a barn owl that combines the use of wood, clay and metal.
It also incorporates bird feeders and insect homes and has now become a much-admired focus in the garden.
Headteacher of Avening School, Diana Boulton said: “The Chine School students have been so skilful in the way they have created Bob. He is a fantastic feature in our garden and enjoyed by all the children.”
Gavin Pond, craft teacher at Cotswold Chine School, said: “It has been a fantastic opportunity for the young people at Cotswold Chine School to use their woodworking, pottery and craft skills for the benefit and enjoyment of other young people.”
