SINGERS at Sir William Romney School in Tetbury found themselves in the company of musical greats when a star and a voice coach from the musical Billy Elliott paid them a visit.

Students were lucky enough to attend a singing master class funded and arranged by the organisers of the Tetbury Music Festival.

As well as meeting top voice coach, Nicola Harrison, star-struck students spent two hours with Olivier-award winner James Lomas, who was one of the original Billy Elliot’s in the musical.

Each pupil was asked to prepare a song from a musical and was then guided in the master class by vocal coach Nicola.

Nicola worked as a voice coach at the first Billy Elliott school in Leeds.

James talked students through slides of his appearances at the Royal Variety Show, along with slides of him as a teenager meeting Girls Aloud ,Elton John and HRH The Prince of Wales.

Mrs Richardson, Arts College director at Sir William Romney said: "Following the huge success of his performances as Billy, this provided the most wonderful and inspirational role model for any young person with an interest in the arts and for our students a dream come true."
