A YEAR 8 student at Cirencester Kingshill School has proved himself to be ice cool in the dog-training arena with his faithful companion Ice, a red merle border collie.

Jake Wilkins, 12, has been training Ice since she was a puppy and the hard work paid off when the team won this year's CBBC series of Who Let the Dogs Out.

The duo spent hours training Ice to perform tricks such as playing basketball and volleyball.

He said: "The most enjoyable part of the whole experience has been learning the new tricks as they are a challenge and I like challenges."

The team also qualified to compete at the Discover Dogs show last month, placing seventh in one round.

And keen to show off his dog's talents to the rest of his school, Jake and Ice along with Will Tipping performed at the Cirencester Kingshill Children In Need talent show scooping the award for most original act.
