Weather cancels Oaksey nature reserve farm Sunday

FORECASTS of high winds and torrential rain for this weekend mean the Open Farm Sunday event on Wiltshire Wildlife Trust’s Lower Moor Farm reserve at Oaksey has been cancelled.
In a statement communications officer Sue Litherland explained the site was likely to become waterlogged and visitors would not be able to see haymaking or get close to the livestock.
"Bringing heavy machinery onto the site would damage the valuable meadows and the footfall of people along paths would churn them into mud making it unpleasant for visitors and causing potential damage to a site of special scientific interest.
"We are sorry to cause any disappointment - we were looking forward to it too," she added.
