A PACKED centre of Bath was laid out before former Malmesbury mayor Steve Cox as he carried the Olympic Torch down Bathwick Hill on Tuesday.
“It was amazing,” he told the Standard after completing his part in the relay. “It was just a wonderful warm feeling, a very positive feeling.”
He was one of 25, including Olympic Gold medallist Jason Gardener, carrying the flame through the city.
Torchbearers were dropped of one bus ahead of their stint and picked up afterwards by another.
“There was a lot of camaraderie on the bus,” he said. “Everyone who got back on was applauded. Everyone told their stories.
“I met all sorts of people. Jason Gardener was the only celebrity. All the others were just people who did stuff in their communities.”
Steve was headed for Cirencester the following day to see wife Hilary carry the torch.
