PUPILS at a Cotswolds school have won an award for their fundraising efforts over the past decade.

Meadowpark School and Nursery pupils have won the award after their consistent efforts to raise money for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).

Headteacher of Meadowpark School and Nuresry Rajvinder Kular, will accept the award at a special ceremony in London on June 5.

Meadowpark School are being awarded the South West Regional Award for School of the Year, an NSPCC Childhood Champion Award.

The school's support continued last week as pupils gathered at the North Meadow in Cricklade for their annual sponsored walk.

Pupils, alongside their parents and teachers, walked a total of 193 miles.

Together they raised £547 for the NSPCC.

They also donated their sponsored miles to BBC Wiltshire Radio’s Step Into Summer Challenge.

HRH The Countess of Wessex, Parton of the NSPCC and Dame Esther Rantzen, founder of Childline will be in attendance at the ceremony.

The school will hold their annual sponsored bike ride to aid NSPCC in June.

Headteacher, Rajvinder Kular said "It teaches the children the value of doing something for other children which is why we choose to support the NSPCC.

"We are absolutely delighted.

"We love supporting such a worthwhile charity.

"Come rain or shine, our annual NSPCC bike ride and sponsored walk have never been cancelled yet!"

The school's next fundraising event is the nursery bike ride taking place on June 16 from 10am to 12pm.
