A PRIMARY school is calling for the community to support its fundraising efforts to replace vital equipment.

Lea and Garsdon Primary School is hoping to replace three interactive whiteboards as the existing equipment is ‘falling apart’.

Last year, the school in Lea near Malmesbury replaced two boards.

They still have three more to replace by the end of the academic year so that each class has access to one.

A target of £13,000 has been set which will cover the replacement costs.

The boards will help children for at least 10 years, resulting in more than 6,000 pupils receiving a better learning experience.

So far they have raised £5,700 towards the target.

Kellie Chandler, part of the PTA team, said: “The chance of us affording all three at the moment are quite low.

“Currently we can afford one at the very least, which will be replacing one of the whiteboards which is by far the worst.

“We have done numerous events already, we have done a cake sale which is fairly normal but then we have also tried different things.

“Our main event is usually the summer fair, however this year we have decided to combine that with the hugely popular Pig Chase.

“Pigs are designed by community groups and there are prizes for the best three pigs.”

The school is looking for businesses to sponsor the Pig Chase with three different packages, from sponsoring a pig to becoming the star sponsors of the event.

Anyone looking to sponsor the event can email the school for more details at PTA@leagarsdon.wilts.sch.uk. The event will take place on Saturday, June 14 from 11.30am to 4.30pm at the Jubilee Playing Fields at the top of the village.
