MALMESBURY Town Council announced on Tuesday that they have voted unanimously in favour of setting up a group to examine the possibilities of adopting a policy to end single use plastics. The aim, to end plastic use where possible by March 2019 and to encourage others in the town to do the same.

It is great to see that we are finally take action and starting to tackle the plastic crisis our world is facing.

David Attenborough captured it perfectly during the final episodes of Blue Planet 2 and shocked many of us, opening our eyes to the damage plastic is causing every day.

Some residents are tackling plastic use this month after Lisa Tweedie created Malmesbury Minimal Plastic April on facebook that has seen 75 members join in just a week.

The group involves members mini blogging their experience and advising other members on how to cut down.

I commend Lisa and other residents for their efforts and I hope more people join them.
