Wessex Concert Orchestra’s spring concert will take place on Saturday, April 28.

The concert will be held at Malmesbury Abbey, Gloucester Street at 7.30pm.

The orchestra will play Mozart Overture to the Magic Flute, Beethoven Piano Concerto No 1 - Soloist Max Li and Brahms Symphony no 2.

Tim Harrison, conductor, said: “We will begin with the well-known tuneful overture to Mozart’s Magic Flute. This will be followed by an equally dazzling burst of energy in Beethoven’s youthful First Piano Concerto with soloist Max Li; an up and coming star and recent winner of the Bristol Rotary Competition.

“In our second half, we will play Brahms’ epic and glorious second symphony. This symphony, which is amongst the finest in the repertoire, is full of warm colours and evokes pastoral feelings.

“We promise music rich in both melody and harmony, with emotions from vivacious excitement to the softest tranquilities, all within the beautiful setting and acoustic of Malmesbury Abbey. We hope you can join us.”
