MALMESBURY Town Council will be celebrating members of the community once again for it's annual Citizen of the Year awards.

Voting is now open for people to propose nominations for a member or organisation in the community for one of three awards.

Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year (the John Poole Cup) and Organisation/Group of the Year (the Paul Dove Trophy).

Malmesbury Town Council will be awarding those who they feel have made a significant and sustained contribution to the local community in the past year.

Nominees for Citizen of the Year must be aged over 26 and between 16 and 25 for the Young Citizen award.

They must live in the wider Malmesbury area, including St Paul Without and Brokenborough, and organisations must be centred in the area.

To nominate an individual, group or organisation, complete an application form from the tourist information centre or print a form off and return it by April 6.

Mayor of Malmesbury Wayne Jones said: "There are many community spirited individuals and unsung heroes within our community who all contribute to improving and enhancing the life and opportunities for our residents.

"The Citizen of the Year Awards is the Town Councils opportunity to recognise these important people and highlight the excellent work they do day-in and day-out.

"If you know someone who deserves recognition for their contribution to our community, I would encourage you to nominate them in the appropriate category."

Nominees and their proposer will be invited to the award evening on April 25 at 7pm in the Town Hall.
