CRICKLADE-based GWP Packaging has invested £30,000 alongside a £5,000 green grant to make a series of improvements to its Wiltshire factory.

The corrugated packaging specialists will be upgrading its factory, warehouse and office lighting to LED, an investment which is set to save the company 114,000Kwh per year in energy at the Cricklade facility and reduce the firms C02 emissions by 47 tons per year with the aim to improve their environmental impact.

Barry Cuss, Plant & Services Manager at GWP Packaging said: “This hasn’t been an easy task due to space and the access that is required to infrastructure.

“But whilst this represents a significant outlay, it promises not only to lessen our environmental impact, but also to return a saving on our energy usage and increase the lighting standards within the facility.”

GWP says it has made moves to invest heavily in environmentally focused projects.

It employs more than 100 people at its locations in Salisbury and Cricklade.
