WOMAD Festival has announced the first wave of artists for its 2018 line-up.

Amadou and Mariam who made their names through their Malian Blues tracks, are one of the main headline acts along with creator of Disney’s Ratatouille soundtrack, art rockers Django Django, Jamaican reggae musical titan Ken Boothe and Irish Accordion master Sharon Shannon.

Aeham Ahmad (Palestine/Syria), Afro Cluster (UK), Colectivo Danza Region & Camara De Danda (Colombia) and Dobet Gnahore (Cote D’Ivoire) can also be seen.

There will also be a performance from Malmesbury School Project, a tradition of the Thursday at the festival, who will be collaborating with Kafou Music, a project led by Senegalese kora player Diabel Cissokho.

This year’s event will be the 36th edition of the festival held at Charlton Park, Malmesbury from July 26-29.

The festival also features, dance, spoken-word, food art, poetry and science.
