THE A419 has now reopened after it was closed for several hours following a crash in which six people were injured.

Two men were were taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with life-threatening injuries when their car and a lorry crashed on the A419 this morning.

The road was closed for several hours causing severe delays for motorists but traffic now clearing.

Three other men who were in the car were taken to Great Western Hospital with lesser injuries while the male driver of the lorry was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The crash happened just before 10am close to the Seven Bridges Farm junction near Cricklade.

The southbound carriageway of the A419 has re-opened after it was closed from the Cricklade junction towards Swindon while one lane northbound is also closed.

Acting Inspector Louis McCoy said: "Tri-force officers are investigating this collision and are carrying out a detailed examination of the road.

"I'd like to thank motorists caught up in any delays for their patience.”

The air ambulance, ambulance and fire services also attended the incident.
