A CRICKLADE boy was left stunned when pieces of ice the size of cricket balls fell from the sky and landed in his garden.
11-year-old Mark Stevenson was having breakfast before heading off for school earlier this month when the strange event happened.
“My mother and I heard an almighty noise from outside our home”, said Mark.
“Initially we thought it was a neighbour’s boiler exploding however upon investigating we noticed a collection of cricket ball sized ice rocks on our drive.
“Clearly the ice had fallen from the sky and cracked upon landing on our drive.
“Our only conclusion was that it came from an airliner that was flying above but due to the cloud cover we could not see any aircraft.”
Fortunately for the Stevenson family, the ice didn’t injury anyone or damage any of their property.
