MALMESBURY Town Council is right to meet Persimmon’s revised application for 231 new homes at Backbridge Farm with hostility.
At last week’s planning and environment committee meeting, representatives from Persimmon defended their new application.
However it is the town council’s duty to put the residents first; not just the current residents of Malmesbury but also those who would move in to the new development.
They feel that there are numerous problems with the application and, in what was at times a heated discussion, offered the opportunity for Persimmon to respond to their reservations.
Yet Persimmon’s defence was lacklustre in its explanation, stating merely that they had made many changes to the application without actually stating how those changes addressed the council’s concerns.
The council want this to be a ‘showcase’ development for the town and Persimmon must work closely with them so that all can be proud once it is complete.
