THE FINAL call is being issued to villagers in Crudwell who are being urged to submit their representations to Wiltshire Council for the draft site allocations plan ahead of the deadline closing on Friday.

Crudwell’s Neighbourhood Plan steering group is warning residents that they have until 5pm on September 22, to make their voices heard over the Ridgeway Farm development, which has been an issue of contention since the plan proposed an additional 40 dwellings at the site.

Sian Burke-Murphy of the steering group said: “Crudwell has begun the process of producing a Neighbourhood Plan. As part of this, a survey is planned to determine what local needs for housing exist and how they should be met.

“Crudwell is not anti-development; it would simply wish to plan itself for any growth via the emerging Neighbourhood Plan.

“It is important that any further allocation of sites for more housing should be based on a genuine need and should take into account the legitimate and real concerns felt by the local community.”

Earlier this month, the campaigners hoping to block the plans for Ridgeway Farm packed a Malmesbury Area Board meeting held in the village.

Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard:

More than 100 villagers turned out in support of the steering group who told councillors that the development was ‘disproportionate’ and ‘unwarranted’ and that the new proposal does not address any of the previous objections from the 2014 applications.

Residents can submit their representations can be submitted by email spatialplaningpolicy@wiltshire.gov.uk or by writing to Spatial Planning, Economic Development & Planning, Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge, BA14 8JN.
