ORGANISATIONS in Wiltshire are being encouraged to join a scheme to commemorate 100 years since the end of First World War.
Wiltshire Council has partnered with the Woodland Trust to provide free tree planting packs to communities that wish to take part.
Anyone from local councils, residents associations, schools and local clubs to groups of neighbours and even individuals can request a pack.
All trees will be British varieties and the Woodland Trust is providing everything free of charge with a network of volunteers able to give support and advice.
Alexa Davies, community engagement manager (CEM) at Wiltshire Council, said: “At this stage, CEMs have simply been asked to gather expressions of interest, firm commitments are not yet required.
“Communities may only wish to plant one tree, others might like a couple of dozen trees, others may be able to accommodate hundreds.”
Tree planting will take place in November 2018, to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI.
