CRICKLADE Bloomers have welcomed a further grant to their fundraising campaign towards reconstructing the boundary wall at their new premises.

Tesco have granted the group £2,000 as part of their community project ‘Bags of Help’, which saw shoppers in North Wiltshire and Swindon vote for a cause using tokens.

Cricklade Bloomers moved into their new home behind Tesco in the High Street earlier this summer but needed to raise £18,000 towards rebuilding the wall.

Cricklade Bloomers started out as the Cricklade in Bloom group and in 2011 they became champion of champions, scooping the top prize in the Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom competition.

They are now responsible for maintaining more than 80 hanging baskets and flower beds around the town and rely entirely on donations.
