THE annual CLIC Sargent music festival MusicaLea enjoyed another successful year with attendees raising more than £1,000 for the cancer charity.

The community came together to run the BBQ, gifted an enormous selection of prizes to the raffle and had enjoyed live music from ten local acts who took to the stage throughout the day.

The morning began with the Lea fun run, a hilly 10km route around the village for only £5 entry with all proceeds donated to CLIC Sargent.

Afterwards, the runners were invited to the Rose and Crown for refreshments and fun, as the festival kicked off at 1pm with local band Xadium.

Local musicians thrilled the crowd right the way through to the evening with acts such as the local choir, the band The Hurricaines and Steve Degutis providing wonderful performances throughout the day.

The day’s activities raised £1,100 for CLIC Sargent, a charity supporting young lives facing cancer.

Ollie Mason, landlord of the Rose and Crown which hosted the festival, said: “Everyone did a fantastic job at MusicaLea again this year.

“The team here at the Rose & Crown is proud to support this community festival and raise funds for a great cause.

“We’re already looking forward to our next CLIC Sargent night when the Neil Diamond Tribute Band joins us on November 11.”

Local Fundraising Manager Caroline Marshall said: “This annual charity festival has been a storming success as always, and I am so impressed with all of the hard work put in by the local people.

“Special thanks must go to Tony Clarke, Paul Deacon and Ollie and his team for putting together such a fantastic day to support children and young people who have been diagnosed with cancer.”
