THIS year’s WOMAD festival passed peacefully, with just two arrests over the weekend.
Approximately 40,000 people attended the event at Charlton Park, Malmesbury from 27 – 30 July 2017.
An 18-year-old man from Malmesbury was arrested on suspicion of common assault on Sunday and was taken to Gablecross Custody. He has since been dealt with by way of an adult caution.
An 18-year-old man from Cornwall was also arrested in the early hours of this morning at the site on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs. He remains in custody at Gablecross.
Sergeant Sean Brady, of the North Community Policing Team, said: “As always, WOMAD was a good natured, family friendly event.
“There was approximately 40,000 people of all ages at the festival over the weekend so from a policing perspective, to have just two arrests is testament to the hard work by the organisers, partner agencies, and the officers who attended the event to ensure everyone was kept safe.”
