INDEPENDENT candidate Lisa Tweedie has spoken of her thanks for the people of North Wiltshire that voted for her.

The Malmesbury resident stood as a parliamentary candidate to help reconnect people who feel disengaged with the political system.

She received 376 votes on Thursday and said: “I thought it was pretty good going after a campaign of just three weeks.

“I was pleased with my result and I was impressed to see such a good turnout for North Wiltshire.

“It was a pleasure standing, people were very supportive and I’ve had lots of lovely comments since.

“I’m still hoping that we’re not going to get education cuts in North Wiltshire.

“James Gray has assured me that’s not going to happen so let’s see how it goes.”
