A WOMAN from Malmesbury who was given just six months to live in 2000, completed her charity fundraiser for the British Lung Foundation last weekend.

Marion Burfield, who has respiratory bronchiolitis and emphysema, walked two miles with the help of her family and respiratory nurse at John Coles Park in Chippenham on Saturday.

The 62-year-old has now raised more than £1,000 with plenty more donations still to be added up.

She said: “The rain stayed away and the wind made it quite difficult to breathe but luckily I had my respiratory nurse to carry my oxygen cylinder on her back.

“I was supported by my family and friends and knowing a number of people known and unknown to me had donated it gave me the inspiration and determination to complete the walk.

“5,556 steps later I did it and have doubled my target of £500 so far with more money still coming in.

“I'm over the moon that all the money collected will allow the British Lung Foundation to continue their vital work in research, campaigning for better health and also supporting myself and others to take control of their lives.”
