AT a meeting of Cricklade Town Council on Monday evening, chairman Mark Clarke and vice-chairman Angela Jensen were re-elected to serve another year in their roles.
Councillor Clarke has been chairman of the council for the last four years.
He said: “I’m very happy to be re-elected, I feel I can contribute to the town council which is why I sit at the table.
“The community asset transfer is a big project and we’re hoping to get some real progress on that.
“The town council has been offered ownership of this building, the leisure centre and a little bit of the car park at the town hall.
“Those assets are currently owned by Wiltshire Council.
“They have been offered to the town council and now we’ve got to make a decision on whether to accept them or not.
“This comes with certain areas of responsibility, the leisure centre for instance is a big undertaking and so it’s not an easy decision. We’re doing a lot of research as a council and we will make a decision fairly soon.”
Cllr Jensen, who has been on Cricklade Town Council for six years, said: “I’m very committed to Cricklade, I’ve lived here for 25 years and now that I’m retired I enjoy supporting the community.
“It’s very difficult to choose a highlight. I like representing the town at Cricklade Festival which I’m on the committee for so I think it’s about getting other people involved in the town in all sorts of different ways.
"Getting people to work together is what I would say is my highlight.”
