MALMESBURY is full of young talent, as evidenced by Daniel Baines who won the young person of the year honour at this year’s annual civic awards, pictured above with former mayors Wayne Jones and Sue Poole who presented the award.
Daniel is a year 13 student at Malmesbury School and has just been accepted to study at Rambert School of Dance, a prestigious academy that only makes offers to 45 people from 600 applicants. He began break dancing aged seven and in 2012 he participated in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
While studying he has worked with local primary schools delivering workshops, inspiring young dancers and striving to make it more acceptable for boys to take up dancing.
Dan has achieved all this despite battling coeliac disease.
