THE WILTSHIRE & Swindon History Centre’s Creative Wiltshire project is asking people across the county to help locate, record and photograph public art.
In particular, the organisation is on the search for artwork anywhere in Wiltshire that has made by an artist, arts practitioner or craftsperson and is located in publicly accessible spaces and places.
Julie Davis, county local studies librarian, said: "Public artworks are vulnerable to change, whether it be through environmental damage or vandalism, or through redevelopment of an area in or around it.
"At present, very little is known about the whereabouts and extent of public art in the county and the role it plays to enhance the places where we live and work.
"Workshops are planned throughout the county to help prepare, organise and collate material and volunteers are encouraged to register their interest to help support public art in the places that matter to them."
Data collected as part of the project will be made available in the Local Studies Library at the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre with images deposited in the historic photograph and print pollection.
The images will then be pinned to the Know Your Place site at kypwest.org.uk in order to map their location geographically.
