TODAY is the final opportunity to register to vote in person for the local elections taking place next month.

On Thursday, May 4, residents in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire will go to the polls to elect parish, town, district and county councillors.

People are being urged to visit gov.uk/register-to-vote and follow the simple process which only take a few minutes.

For those already registered, polling cards will be soon be dropping on their doormats, if not already. 

For those not voting in person, the deadline for receipt of new postal vote applications is 5pm on April 18 and the deadline for receipt of proxy vote applications is 5pm on April 25.

The polls will be open between 7am and 10pm on May 4 with the actual count and confirmation of results taking place throughout the following day.
