A MINETY mum is celebrating her first anniversary of helping to getting people fit and healthy.

Issy Griffin has been hosting regular drop-in fitness classes in the village for just over a year after being asked by a fellow mum at Minety Munchkins to run an evening class.

The qualified personal trainer moved to the area from London three years and has gone from just two clients in 2015 to holding three classes and two training groups.

Issy said: “I got involved with Minety Munchkins because I was looking at ways to contact people when we moved here.

“It all spiralled from a free session there for mums.

“This took off quite quickly and when I was asked if I did anything at the weekend I started a kettlebells class.

She held her first fitness group at the Pavilion on the Playing Fields in Minety at the end of March 2016.

“This year, after my Christmas questionnaire, I set up my third class, stretch and tone.

“I have a crazy desire to get people moving.

“I’m a runner and I also loving skiing, cycling and walking, especially in the countryside.

Her classes are all drop in, cost just £5 and she has had some marvellous success stories.

“I love my job, it’s a real privilege to see people regain their fitness and rediscover their health”, she said.

“Small things like the lady who always said she couldn’t do press-ups finding out she can now do not just one but 10 or one regular bouncing in saying she had lost a stone in weight since starting the class.

Issy’s classes are going from strength to strength with as many as 14 people regularly going to her fitness sessions and she hopes to start offering local healthy eating seminars for mums and groups.
