A MAN had to lift his son onto a car to save him from being attacked by two dogs in Malmesbury.

The father, his son and their small dog, were chased by two large dogs in Hunloke Way, Malmesbury.

He was forced to lift his son and dog onto a nearby car to keep them safe.

The relentless dogs, described as “Pitbull type dogs” by police, tried to reach them on top of the vehicle, which resulted in damage to the car.

Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident.

Police investigations are ongoing.

If anyone has any information about incident, which occurred on March 4, 12.30pm, they are urged to call police on 101.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We would like to stress the importance of keeping your dogs on leads when out and about, to avoid any incidents like this taking place.

“We would also like to urge walkers and joggers to be vigilant when out and about – please be alert and report any incidents to Wiltshire Police on 101.”

Residents spoke out about their problems with out of control dogs on hearing the news.

Paul Waldron said: “When will people learn to control their dogs properly to stop things like this?”

Eloise Carpenter added: “Irresponsible dog owners are the bane of my life.

“I've lost count of the amount of times my horse has been scared by out of control dogs with an owner on their mobile completely unaware of what their dogs are doing.”
