THE quality of care at nursing, residential and care homes in Wiltshire has seen significant improvements since Christmas, but costs remain comparatively high, according to a new report.
In December, Trusted Care, a comprehensive directory of care homes in the UK, published their annual Care Quality League Table.
Three months on, Wiltshire has shifted 10 places for overall care quality, from 38th to 28th.
The shift has been accredited to an increase in the number of residential care services in Wiltshire receiving a ‘good’ Care Quality Commission rating.
As well as looking at care quality, Trusted Care also tracks the average cost of social care in each county.
Wiltshire is currently the 13th most expensive county in England to receive residential care, at a cost of £765 a week.
It is the third most expensive county for nursing care, at £1,196 a week.
