THERE are few more senseless and infuriating crimes than vandalism.

Swindon and Cricklade Railway have been the victims of idiot vandals yet again, this time coming in the form of graffiti being sprayed on train carriages.

The team at the railway are passionate about what they do and this recent incident is yet another setback to them.

They were recently told there would be no prosecutions following an arson attack on one of their prized trains last year and subsequently that their insurer would only cover a small percentage of the cost of the damage.

Is it hard to put oneself in the mind of someone who finds pleasure in bringing misery to so many hard-working, dedicate people, but alas, there is no shortage of the sort of reckless, selfish idiots who do commit such acts.

Fundraisers held by the railway will be needed to help recoup their losses at the hands of these vandals, rather than develop the services they can offer and expand their work.

Here’s hoping the railway can pick themselves up, dust themselves off, and push forward.
