A TEENAGER who ran away from police in Malmesbury after a car he was in was searched, has been given a caution, having admitted to the possession of cannabis.

Police officers smelled cannabis coming from a car parked in Station Yard Car Park at 3.30pm on January 29.

The car was searched and cannabis was found in a lunchbox in the foot well of the front passenger seat.

The 17-year-old driver and a 19-year-old male were also searched and an 18-year-old male ran away from the scene.

No drugs were found on the two males who were searched, but the male who made off was later invited for an interview and admitted that the drugs, found in the car, belonged to him.

He was subsequently given a caution.
