A RUNNER from Malmesbury who suffers with endometriosis, is running her first marathon to raise money to fight the condition.

Stacie Willis, 36, has had endometriosis, a condition where tissue that behaves like the lining of the womb is found outside the womb, for seven years.

She has been a keen runner for years and is taking part in her first full marathon in April to raise funds for Endometriosis UK, a charity which provides vital support services, reliable information and a community for those affected the condition.

“It would be nice to give something back to the charity which supported me through the journey,” she said.

“They’ve been incredibly supportive and knowledgeable and have provided lots of information on their website.

“As such a small charity, they don’t get recognised as much as they should.”

Stacie will be running a number of warm-up events in the run up to the 26-mile Brighton Marathon.

She will be playing out to Spain to take part in the Barcelona half marathon on February 5 but will also be training closer to home.

On Sunday she did a litter run with her running club, the Malmesbury based Abbey Flyers, inviting fellow residents to join in.

They started at the Co-op before travelling through town and down the main road to Corston.

“This is one of our regular routes and we have noticed that the amount of rubbish is disgusting,” she said.

The team filled ten bin bags, before taking them to the dump.
