A CEO from Malmesbury is taking competitive fundraising to a new level.

Paul Jameson, of Outsource UK, is running 12 half marathons in 12 months with his colleague Nick Dettmar, the company’s chief operating officer.

Whoever has the lowest overall running time for all the events is the winner, with the loser having to donate £500 to Sue Ryder.

“We’re competitive animals,” said Paul. “We’ll be trying hard to beat each other.

“We both did the Birmingham half and he did it seven minutes quicker than me, but did one two weekends ago and was slower, so he’s going backwards.”

Paul should be prepared for the challenge, having previously walked up Kilimanjaro, completed the Three Peaks challenge, done a number of gruelling Tough Mudder obstacle course events, and has run half marathons in Paris, Spain and Swindon.

His adversary has run the Great North Run as well as Birmingham and Bristol half marathons, so will be no pushover.

Sue Ryder has been chosen as Outsource’s charity of the year after Paul Jameson’s father lost his battle with illness earlier this year and was cared for at the Sue Ryder home in Leckhampton in Cheltenham.

“My father was given some excellent care in the Sue Ryder hospice,” he continued.

“So, unbeknownst to me, the staff were aware, put their heads together and said we should raise money for them.”

Outsource UK aim to reach £10,000 for Sue Ryder by June 2017 through 25 events to work in conjunction with the company’s 25th anniversary, including sky dives, a gin night and numerous other events.

Paul and Nick are fundraising against each other throughout the next year, another source for competitiveness between the two.

Outsource has also committed to match fund the highest team sponsorship up to the value of £1,500.
