A CO-OP worker in Malmesbury has launched an appeal to help feed the vulnerable and lonely at Christmas.

Steve Kerfoot works at the Co-op on Gloucester Road and is helping to raise money and source food and presents for the HEALS Isolation Christmas Dinner event which takes place on December 22.

Last year the event fed more than 60 isolated and vulnerable members of the community thanks to food donations from local shops and the 45 volunteers who brought Christmas cheer to those who needed it most.

Thanks to Steve’s efforts the Co-op will be accepting both monetary and food donations to go towards the event this year

Steve said: “It’s that time of year when many of us perhaps take for granted the food and gifts that we enjoy at Christmas, but sadly that’s not the case for everyone.

“Malmesbury is a fantastic community and I know we can rely on people to donate and help out.”

Steve is also looking for volunteers to help to host the event. For more information, visit the Gloucester Road Co-op.

Alison Cross-Jones, general manager of HEALS, said: “’I’m delighted that Steve and the Co-op are getting behind this venture along with other local businesses.

“It’s fantastic what partnership can achieve.

“The meal gives people a hot meal at a time when they might not get one.

“It brings people together at a tough time and looks after the vulnerable in our community.”
