NORTH Wiltshire has been issued with numerous flood alerts today, as torrential rain has battered the region.
The Environment Agency have issued alerts for most areas of north Wiltshire with a riverbank, after heavy rainfall caused river levels to rise dramatically.
More rain is expected in the area in the coming days and residents are urged to take precautions when leaving the house.
Malmesbury Town Council member Ray Sanderson went down to check the water levels in the town and described the situation as “a bit grim”.
He went on to say only one of the three sluice gates at Cowbridge is currently operational, as the other two are in the process of being renovated.
Cllr Sanderson said: “Its sods law they haven’t been completely fixed yet.”
He added: “I think the sluice will stand up to the [weather].”
