MAKING alterations to road layouts may help the majority of motorists, however nearby residents can often be left behind.

Never has that more been the case than with the family affected by this week’s front page story.

The Thompson’s lives are being made a living hell by all accounts, after the council changed the speed limit around their house and replaced a nearby junction with a roundabout.

The speed of the cars whipping past their house has made it difficult for the family to pull out, leaving them in a constant state of anxiety.

The quick fix would be to put some temporary traffic lights on the turning or at least reduce the 60mph speed limit, but the council seem reluctant to address the problem, seeing as it only affects one family.

Practically, this makes sense, but when a family are being so badly affected by something you’d hope their pleas wouldn’t fall on such deaf ears.
